“Mobile Movie Making Night.”

(Make movies using your Smartphone and/or iPad.)

The idea of making a professional movie using your Smartphone or iPad is no longer an idea.

Join us as we welcome Taz Goldstein who will show us many of the top apps you need for professional mobile movie making.

Also Dave Basulto of iOgrapher fame will join us to show off hardware accessories for the mobile filmmaker.

Also, Karl Lee Soule of Adobe, will be here to show their mobile apps.

Oh yeah, Stump the Gurus, World Famous Raffle and our brand new projector.

Plus air conditioning. Woot!

NOTE: lacpug generally meets every 4th Wednesday of the Month. Meetings are open to public and ALL, beginning through advanced Digital Story Tellers are welcome. 6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus Adam Bedford,
Misha Tennenbaum and Philip Hodgetts as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

This is your time, assuming we have time. New to LA? Say Hello. Got a movie you want people to see? Tell us about it. Looking for a job? Tell us. Offering a job? Tell us.

7:30PM - 8:00PM - Adobe Mobile Apps - Karl Lee Soule
Karl will be covering a range of mobile apps from Adobe that are designed for professional-level work in graphics and video. Tools like Adobe Capture can create high-quality color Looks, which work on both mobile and desktop tools. Karl will cover Adobe Premiere Clip, a mobile application for video editing that can send your timeline to Adobe Premiere Pro for further finishing. And Karl will also cover some of the Adobe Spark mobile apps – great for social media and quick storytelling. Best of all – all of the Adobe mobile apps being shown are FREE, so feel free to download and test out yourself.

Karl Soule recently returned from 5 years living and working in Asia, growing the awareness and adoption of Adobe Premiere Pro in broadcasting and film. He’s now living and working in Culver City, covering the greater LA region to help adoption of Adobe Creative Cloud tools in the film industry.

Taz Goldstein is an award winning filmmaker who has directed & produced for Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Studios, Fox Television Studios, FX, TBS, Worldwide Pants, MTV, Sony Electronics, Fuji, Adobe, and many other companies that don’t look as impressive on a list. Taz recently executive produced the acclaimed feature documentary, Spinning Plates, and authored the book Filmmaking with the iPad & iPhone for Peachpit Press. In 2009, Taz founded Hand Held Hollywood, a website that explores how Apple's iOS devices can aid in nearly every aspect of film and video production. Enter through the gate on Hollywood Blvd just West of Berendo. The theater is at the top of the hill, adjacent to the art gallery.

From US 101 (heading South),
take the Hollywood Boulevard exit.
Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn right into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.

From US 101 (heading North),
take the Vermont Avenue exit.
Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Vermont Avenue.
Turn left onto Hollywood Boulevard.
Turn left into the entrance to Barnsdall Art Park at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. (you will only see a parking lot. Drive to top of hill to find the Gallery Theater)
The Gallery Theater is in the center of the park.

Metro Red Line
Yes, Los Angeles has a subway and if possible you ought to use it. Riders are dropped of at Sunset and Vermont, one long block from the Art Park. More info on the Red Line can be found here.

PARKING: Parking is FREE. There is ample parking on top of hill near the Art Park. Parking extends around the perimeter of the Park. NOTE: Please park your car diagonally even though the spaces are not marked that way. What to do if I cant find a place to park?
Park at the Kaiser Hospital Parking lot. Download directions HERE - or...

1. Turn right on Hollywood Blvd
2. Turn right on Vermont Ave
3. Turn right on Sunset Blvd.
4. Turn right into Kaiser Parking Structure
5. Park on rooftop
6. Take elevator down to Level 2
7. Exit at Parking Entrance on Barnsdall Ave.
8. Cross Street to Barnsdall Park
9. Use Stair or elevator to Park
10. Climb stairs and follow signs to Gallery Theatre
11. Cost is $4.00 (I think) And security is provided.

Wheelchair access: Park in the lot next to the Hollyhock house (you will see a handicap parking sign), come into the theatre entrance, and take the elevator down. There will be space in the front of the theatre for wheelchairs.

Before or after the meeting, there is a fine restaurant row on Vermont between Hollywood and Franklin (just around the corner from the park). There are also a number of funky ethic eateries along Hollywood Blvd.
