Agenda (subject to change and availability)

6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus Patrick Southern, Misha Tenenbaum, Michael Kammes and Philip Hodgetts as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:20PM - 7:30PM - Announcements
This is your time, assuming we have time. New to LA? Say Hello. Got a movie you want people to see? Tell us about it. Looking for a job? Tell us. Offering a job? Tell us.

7:30PM - 7:45PM - FindrCat Pro: Media Asset Management so simple, you’ll probably use it - Philip Hodgetts.
Take the keyword ranges from FCP X and inject the metadata into Finder Tags, as well as into the file itself. Use Finder Tags to search across drives to find media in the Finder, then drag back to FCP X where Finder Tags become Keywords again.
Upgrade to FindrCat Pro (in app) and drag your Finder selects to FindrCat Pro and all the metadata from the original Clips is returned to the Event.
Your valuable metadata travels with the file. If the file is there, the metadata is there. Simple asset management and security in one package.

About Lawrence Jordan ACE
Lawrence Jordan, ACE - Co-Creator
Lawrence is a veteran feature film and television editor who has worked with many of the top creatives at the world’s largest entertainment companies, including Time Warner, Sony, Fox, MGM, HBO, Netflix and Disney. He has supervised creative aspects of the post-production process on over 45 feature films and television shows with budgets ranging from 1 million to upwards of 80 million dollars. He recently completed his latest feature film, "Naked" starring Marlon Wayans and Regina Hall for Netflix.

With a passion for technology, Lawrence was fortunate to have the opportunity to be one of the earliest adopters of digital, non-linear, editing workflows. Along the way he became an adjunct professor at the American Film Institute’s Center for Advanced Studies, and created and taught courses on non-linear editing at UCLA. He has also been a consultant and speaker for companies such as Apple, Adobe, and Avid Technology. Jordan has also written articles for periodicals including American Cinematographer, Editors Guild Magazine, DV and MacWorld.

Jordan also created 2-pop.com
, an Internet community dedicated to providing information about Apple’s revolutionary new post-production software, Final Cut Pro. 2-pop quickly became the premier web destination for the rapidly growing digital video marketplace and was a catalyst for FCP user group communities worldwide. It was later acquired by Creative Planet.

About Richard Sanchez
Richard discovered editing on a whim while studying theatre at UC Irvine.  Combining his love for storytelling and technology made post production a clear path that he’s been pursuing ever since.

Starting out shooting and editing videos for GoTV, one of the earliest providers of mobile video, he worked his way into television starting in unscripted.  Unscripted proved a valuable training grounds to work on his assistant editing skills before transitioning into scripted television and features.

From UFO Hunters to The Good Place to Naked, Richard has seen many different shows with may different workflows and is excited to share his experience with you.  There’s always something new to learn and processes to refine, but this course stands as a solid foundation to prepare yourself for working in features.

In addition, we'll look at the coverage that was available, and talk about how actor training, cinematography, editing, and directing all contribute to making the action in John Wick 1 & 2 so memorable.

Between classes he worked part-time at Stan Winston Studio, eventually becoming their in-house editor. After USC and thanks to two study abroad semesters in Madrid, Evan quickly landed a dream job as an assistant editor on Pan’s Labyrinth, and then a year later on Hellboy 2. Soon after he was hired as the associate editor on Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, and continued editing for Bad Robot on a regular basis. Yes, Los Angeles has a subway and if possible you ought to use it. Riders are dropped of at Sunset and Vermont and then it is a walk of several blocks and uphill to get to the Theatre. The Park has a gated stairway ending at Barnsdall Ave, just behind the strip mall. It's the only access point from this side, but it is often locked. There is long, tree-shaded stairway leading from Hollywood Blvd to the Gallery Theatre and this area is sometimes shared with a homeless population. The best route for people who use mobility devices is the sidewalk along the Barnsdall Park road access. More info on the Red Line can be found here.
